How to Install WhatsApp on PC [Video Tutorial Added]
How to Install WhatsApp on PC ? Yes, you heard it right. The Real Time Messaging App which is available iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone, can be installed on your Desktop PC. That sounds jaw dropping, isn’t it ? Let me highlight about the messenger to those who don’t know about it. WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends!

It is quiet obvious that if we’re talking about installing any Mobile App on PC then there must be some kind of Emulator App/Software which will do the same. Yes you’re right again!
We will be using BlueStacks App Player in which you can run your favorite Android Apps on PC. BlueStacks App Player lets you run your Android apps fast and full screen on Windows PCs and tablets. You can Sync Android Apps from your phone or tablet to BlueStacks using our Cloud Connect mobile app.

Install Notes
1. Download BlueStacks and Install it on your PC. After the Installation is complete, Run the App and if you want to keep it maximized then click on the maximize button. The App should restart in order to get so! Now you can see a market look-a-like interface. You can see a search bar around there, where you can type any Android App and browse through out the Google Play store!

.
2. Type “WhatsApp/WhatsApp Messenger” in the Search Bar and select any of the search query from the list. You will find the App at the top in the list. Click on the Messenger Icon to start the Download. It will first search through out the market including Amazon Store and then your download will start within few seconds. You can minimize the download by closing the download progress. It will keep running in the background!

.

3. After the download is complete you will get a notification at the taskbar that WhatsApp has been installed! Now you can find the WhatsApp Icon on the upper area in the BlueStack App Player. The upper toolbar shows your installed Android Apps in your PC.
Click on the icon to launch WhatsApp Messenger and follow the instructions then after. WhatsApp Messenger will start loading and you can see the welcome screen of the App. Click on “Agree and Continue“.

.
4. After clicking on Continue it will ask you to enter the Country Code and your phone number. Select your country and enter you number. Remember one thing, one you enter your number it will verify it either through SMS Service or Automated Call Service. And once your number gets verified you will no longer able to access whatsApp on your phone. You can do so from PC whenever you are online.

{I have blurred my cell number for security reasons
}
.
5. In the verification process if you choose the SMS Verification then you will get a text message from this number : +447736716466 with a text “WhatsApp Code 249“. Enter the code when asked by the App. If you choose the automated telephone verification, then you will receive a call from the same number on your phone in which a computerized voice will tell you the code of 3 digits. Use the same code for the activation. After the verification is complete, it will ask you to provide your name. Enter your name and click OK.

.
6. Once your WhatsApp on PC gets activated you will no longer be able to use it on your phone. Everytime you open your messenger in the phone to type a chat it will show verification failed, do you want to verify your phone number. Don’t click yes! By doing so WhatsApp will again get activated on your phone and you won’t be able to access it from PC. It concludes that, you can use WhatsApp only on one platform; either on your Phone or PC. I would recommend to use it on PC to save your phone’s RAM Usage and whenever you would feel to use it on your phone, you can verify your number again at there.

.
7. The bad thing with this is, you have to manually enter all the numbers of your WhatsApp Friends into the Contact list in order to chat with them, as you won’t be remembering everyone’s number out there to start the chat. To add a new contact click on the second icon at the below toolbar (Show Menu) and select “Contacts“. Now at the contacts page click on show menu and select “New Contact“. Add the details and save it. Similarly you have to add the numbers of your friends. It’s too time taking if you have a huge WhatsApp Friend Circle

8. Rest information you can find on my video tutorial ! If you ever want to uninstall WhatsApp from PC and go back to your phone version, then open BlueStacks and in the homescreen, tap and hold the WhatsApp Icon for sometime. It will show a cross mark above it. Click on it and it will ask your confirmation to uninstall it.

This will remove WhatsApp from your PC. To start using it on your phone, simply type anything in the Chatbox and it will show verification failed. Click yes to verify the phone and it will send a text message to your number containing a code. Enter the code in the App to start using it again.
.
Summary
The main motive behind installing WhatsApp Messenger on PC is that, it is a very Heavy App which uses a lot of your phone’s RAM which literally makes your phone respond slowly and halt many-a-times. So by switching it over to your PC will help you in speeding up your phone and increase your RAM.
It doesn’t matter if you’re using WhatsApp on Symbian, iPhone, BlackBerry or Windows Phone. Your OS might be different but your number is just one. WhatsApp registers your number not your phone. So you can use your account on the Android Version of the App. Follow the video tutorial in case if you need any extra guidance.
Happy WhatsApp’ing!

Very Helpful . I must say nice post with nice video. Whats app is rising like Instagram these days. Even Instagram got a PC version like this called Instagrille.
Good One
Abhisek_D
Haha, Thanks Hursh! It made me a lot of tired while making the video as I was getting much disturbances during the creation so I had remake it again and again. Due to time shortage I couldn’t make it properly but it went quiet good. And I didn’t knew about Instagrille. Will check about it shortly
Beverley
That seems to be a great idea. However, I would prefer if we can use WhatsApp Messenger on both phone and PC at the same time.
I wonder when that will be possible? For the meantime, I’ll just make do with this great tutorial.

Hello Beverley,
Well the concept is similar to a SIM Card. You can’t use one SIM Card at-a-time in two phones. Correct ? To use it in both, first we have to switch off one phone and remove the SIM and insert it in the other one. Similarly to use in PC, you have to verify your phone on it and when you want to revert back to your phone, you can re-verify your number on your phone to run WhatsApp again!
Thank you for dropping by. Good day!
Sajan

Dear @Abhisek_D Where is the ‘Thank You Amol’ for the TIP?
Abhisek_D
@Shaitaaaaan Actually the things is, I had decided earlier to write about this. But I wasn’t getting time and anyhow the tip to write about this wasn’t given by you
You only helped me in solving the BlueStacks Working Issue and nothing else.
But anyhow, you deserve a token of appreciation for this. So ‘Thank You Amol’ for the Download Link, not for any TIP!

I seem to be able to have some issues with actually getting WhatsApp to work on my pc, when trying to send a message I get the message, service not available. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Daruhshie
”currently unbale to send your message, it will be send when the service becomes available” = the notification I get when trying to send a message, any help would be very much appreciated, been googeling without much succes, even on the whatsapp support forum I seem to be the only one with this issue.. figures

Well I didn’t face any such problem out there. It can be due to network failure! Try again by restarting your system. Hope you haven’t verified your number from your phone after you have done it on PC or else it won’t work !
Abhisek Das
Have you verified your number from your PC ? If you have done it, keep in mind not to verify it by your phone. Coz once you re-verify your number from the phone, you won’t be able to use it on PC and vice-versa. And may be the error is due to network failure. Are you still getting it ?
