Aakash Tab – The Cheapest Tablet in the World
Gone are those days when people used to show off their Rs. 35k Tabs to others, to make themselves feel high. And gone are those moments when Reliance launched their CDMA Tab at Rs. 12k thinking that it will takeover the other Higher Priced Tabs !
India launches world’s cheapest tablet PC ‘Aakash’ | The tablet PC, named Aakash, will cost the government just 46.52 USD i.e. Rs. 2,276. It will be given to students after subsidising the price by up to 50 per cent, Human Resources Development Minister Shri Kapil Sibal said while unveiling the device in New Delhi.
It is expected that 416 Universities and 20,000 colleges all over India will be connected under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT). The Mission pays for fiber connectivity for each University to connect to the nearest NKN node. The Mission has placed a consolidated order for connecting all Universities and Colleges to BSNL and about 80% of the Universities and Colleges have been connected already.

well for da first try it's kinda ok…….bt needs improvement in RAM and internal storage….i mean 256 MB of RAM now-a-days doesn't sound gud n even ta cheapest of mobiles got 2GB memory…
but anyways it's a good buy….n ii certainly ll be looking to try one…..great success for indi on da tech front….hope dis success jus increases exponentially….

Umm I guess you've took the RAM thing wrongly. Other mobiles have 2GB as their memory, and memory isn't similar to RAM, that's the memory storage space and they have nearly 100-120MB RAM ! As compared to these, Aakash has a lot of RAM which will make it run much faster than other mobiles.
I'm too looking forward to try this on my own. Looks like having great features at a minimal price

noe dat it's faster dan a mobile……and abt da RAM thing…am not wrong dere wanted 2 say dat da features in a tab reqire better RAM dan 256 MB….it is surely faster dan many mobiles but mobile doesn't require much RAM even…and da 2GB internal storage space needs 2 be improved…..gud 1 for da first tym though n i noe de ll improve in future…

Actually 256 RAM is good, just a Ghz processor is needed along with it to make it work smoothly fast. And the internal memorage storage space is 2GB default and you can expand upto 32GB, no other mobiles have such greater internal mass storage !

Sure buy it. As soon as it available near your mobile outlets, go and grab it. And being an Android, it should support Apps as per SE Xperia X10 ! It's just opinion, we can't say perfectly without using the commercial version.
